Since 2018, the WCMX department of the German Wheelchair Sports Association has been hosting the annual International German Championship. Top WCMX athletes from all over Europe compete here at the biggest WCMX competition outside the USA.

After Hamburg and Berlin, the 3rd International German WCMX Championship will take place digitally this year with a live show from Oldenburg, Lower Saxony.

The 3rd International German Championship in WCMX will take place digitally!

The WCMX department is the first department in the German Wheelchair Sports Association to carry out its 3rd International German Championship digitally. “On 21st November 2020, the German WCMX sport will be presented in a show never seen before,” says Timon Luu, one of the two hosts. From the skatepark of the Backyard e. V. in Oldenburg, the 2019 WCMX world champion and Katrin Degenhardt will present the best WCMX athletes from Germany and all over the world in a 3-hour live show starting at 8:15 pm. Due to the corona pandemic, the WCMX department of the German Wheelchair Sports Association will not be able to host the annual highlight of the European WCMX scene as usual this year. “The athletes have the opportunity to submit their skills in videos taken at their skate parks at home during the period from 15. September – 13. November 2020,” says Patrick Krause, head of the WCMX department at German Wheelchair Sports Association e.V.. According to Krause, this will help to avoid large gatherings of people for the protection of everyone.

For the first time, the Judges will judge the Runs of the participants by video. As head Judge Niklas Effertz reports, there are no other evaluation criteria than for a regular International German Championship. The judging will take place live from Oldenburg on 21 November.

A dedicated social media team will provide viewers with the opportunity to participate in the program during the broadcast. The show will be musically accompanied by the Cologne skater band Jailbait, who already brought the World Championship to a close at the Riders Party at the Paraskate 2019.
